Process me a replacement, I'm still under warranty!

(3:40 PM Philippine Standard Time)
I found something funny somewhere, and I can much relate, since I worked as a Technical Support way, way back.

Hey Steve, get me your manager in pronto!
I'm in memory lane right now, as I write this blog. But this is just funny.

Most customers, or consumers in one of the LOBs I worked with, usually call every tech support someone else's name. When you introduce yourself, you say your name, and since this is mostly about products not working as it supposed to, then they (consumers) vent out, and call you another name.

And I know how it feels like, being irritated or frustrated, since everyone is a consumer in one point or another.

It's somewhat funny now, but it happens. And I can't complain. It's how it works. Check this pic out.

How To Let Google Find Your Site

So now you have finished blogging, you've got your own page/post, then you test it by going to Google.. typing in some texts found in your most recently created blog. But to your surprise, nothing even showed up! You see other posts, but not yours. Why is that? You asked..

Well, if you try to think of it, maybe Google hasn't crawled your site's index yet, seems logical right? How can anyone find what you've just posted if Google's web crawler hasn't seen your site's page index yet.

Now, without further ado, here's some steps to help you get going:

There are 2 approach here, which might look similar, logically, but you'll see the difference later on..

1st Approach:
Submit your site's URL:

  • Go to this link, where Google will let you add your site's URL (the link is here)
    • You need to check after 24 hours if your site can now be searched
    • Sometimes it takes lesser than 24 hours, but you decide.

2nd Approach:
You can add, & manage your newly created site(s):
mine, for example

  • If you have a Google account, and use it most of the time, then this will help you sort things out (click here)
    • Here's where you can add / delete your sites, if necessary.

There you go. That's how to let Google find you! Just look into the light :)

Scrambling, Multitasking ...

How does one Multitask..

Do you see yourself like an octopus? with a lot of things going on all at the same time? which one to juggle? which one should be done first?

"Here you are, reports due by Wednesday", says your colleague.

"Don't forget our meeting tomorrow at 3 pm", one of your associates reminded you.

You do have all schedules and meetings booked in your calendar (You might be using any calendar apps or reminder apps that your smart phones or iPhones have), but you still keep up and can't finish anything you've just started.

Well, there's a cool way to exercise your brain. Generic suggestions would be:

  • play a musical instrument
  • play chess with someone
  • get to know latest events by reading magazines, newspapers
  • avoid watching TV

etc...

And the not so conventional approach would be to try sites which offers multiple cerebral tests & engaging games, challenging your wits. And there are other sites that opens your mind to new ideas.

One that I know of:
Lumosity - this site provides huge ways to help improve your brain muscles. Discover your inner octopus!

And, one site I just found out that brings out the inner geek in you (Geek isn't a bad term, it does not connote any negative meaning whatsoever. In fact, it's cool, and if you're one of them, then you're in the in crowd).

I think there's an online mascot right now, called "Multitask Octopus" this might be trending already, or should be trending by now.

And I'd like to share this blog site: www.abriraqui.net, and I landed on this part of this site right here. I know there are millions of tech sites out there.. but something that tackles the linux kernel, just for a hobby, is a tough read

To sum it all up, multitask is subjective, it depends on each individual how you gauge yourself. I, myself, am  not that good when it comes to multitasking.. but I'm getting better.. Wish me luck!
